Vicky: When you get in touch with Stageway and ask them what we discussed on the FB chat, please also ask them if My Dear (2nd single) will be out before the girls hit the UK.
In my humble opinion, what KJ need most now is media exposure and apparently they hardly get any airplay at all these days in the UK. Also, Lady Grey is old news by now. So My Dear would be the best "tool" to work with for the support via social media, especially when it comes to requesting songs.
And while we're on that topic: Which UK radio stations and programs have the most listeners and are likely to play KJ tunes? If we know that, we can make sure they'll find out there's a great demand for KJ to be played.
Also, which other social media related platforms are there where we could do our bit? I'm thinking discussion boards of music magazines etc.

Hi Haakon, have asked about the planned media appearances as discussed and told Stageway guys about the Bring KJ to BBC competition idea by May. Didn't see your message, so haven't asked about the rest - will do in the next message.
Do you know how I can set up for the forum to notify me via e-mail about any messages addressed to me? You've hyperlinked me in your message, so I am presuming there's a way to tell the system to send me an e-mail about this? And how do you hyperlink people?  :o

Actually, this is not a hyperlink, I just underlined your name as you are the one in touch with Stageway. I don't think hyperlinking people is possible.
I used to get an email when someone replied in a forum thread that I am involved in, but not lately, so that might be either a bug or an option that has been switched off?

Noticed it too. Nothing has been switched off as far as I know, but I did get mail the past days, so I hope it's working fine again.

The best station for KJ in the UK is BBC Radio Two, KJ are already accepted by them as they have been on the Terry Wogan Sunday show twice already as well as the BBC event in Hyde Park.
Steve Wright afternoon radio show would be a perfect promo spot and if they could offer to come into his studio that would be just FAB.
Jules Holland would be amazing but I did try writing directly to the show producers office but got the reply that Stageway or Katzenjammer need to contact them if they want consideration for the TV show and that was that. Sol did a great little video directed at Jules Holland but don't know if they posted it off to him.
Also I had no idea Dust Storm is Haakon but now I do  :)

Bill, thank you very much for all the suggestions - invaluable info! Would be great to discuss this with more UK fans to get more ideas - maybe we should post this on the KJN FB page as a discussion topic?
I have also come across Piano Sessions with Huw Stephens - this DJ also hosts BBC Introducing sessions - so he would probably be interested in having Katzenjammer on one of his programmes? http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p010j8y5

I doubt if BBC Introducing would consider KJ as their focus is very much on new bands, despite what the site says about undiscovered/overlooked.

Radio 2 is very much the band's natural outlet. I'm hoping that when 'My Dear' gets a release, it'll be picked up by The Folk Show. This is presented by Mark Radcliffe who has described the band as 'stupendous live' (which we know, of course).

We could contact the Simon Mayo show, which precedes it on a Wednesday as they usually play a folky tune. He also plays a country tune prior to Bob Harris' show on a Thursday so a song like 'Bad Girl' might be worth highlighting there.

Radio Scotland also has folk and country shows and I've been in touch with them but no response. I was speaking to Vic Galloway, who presents an indie show, the other night and I've been badgering him for years to play KJ. He feels they're too mainstream for his show but may consider them for another show he sometimes presents - viewers' suggestions based around a theme. The problem is getting in past the show's producer who doesn't know the music.

This is what I found out:

KJ are already in the database called MusicBrainz which the BBC uses:
http://musicbrainz.org/artist/ad102038-c2a1-4c6b-856f-f671254de54f
and they have their own artist website on the BCC:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/artists/ad102038-c2a1-4c6b-856f-f671254de54f
So that's already a pretty good basis.

Here's how to get in touch with all the shows you mentioned (just click on the links and email addresses):

Steve Right afternoon show
email: steve.wright@bbc.co.uk
twitter: https://twitter.com/bigshowfactoids
The show's producer's official twitter: https://twitter.com/bigshowproducer
facebook: http://www.facebook.com/BBCR2

The link Vicky posted for the Piano Lessons goes to
BBC Introducing
facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BBCintroducing
twitter: https://twitter.com/bbcintroducing

The Folk Show with Mark Radcliffe
email: folkshow@bbc.co.uk
twitter: https://twitter.com/bbcradio2 (add #folkshow to your tweet)

Simon Mayo
email: simonmayo@bbc.co.uk
facebook: http://www.facebook.com/simonmayodrivetime
twitter: https://twitter.com/simonmayo

For suggestions for a Showstopper to finish the show that reflects the following programme:
email: simonmayo@bbc.co.uk
Here they want us to tell them why we’d like them to play it.

Not being familiar with those shows, what do you think is the best KJ song for each of them?
Keith suggested "Bad Girl" as a Showstopper to be played on a Thursday.

I don't think I have ever seen Sol's video to Jools that Bill pointed out. Do you have a link for that?

Iggy Pop also has a show on BBC 6Music on a Friday night. Unfortunately, there's no way to contact the show. Perhaps he'll play KJ after seeing them at the Basel gig next month. In the meantime, I'll be contacting the above shows again in the coming weeks, prior to the November UK tour. Hopefully, anyone reading this thread will do likewise.

I'll also be contacting BBC Radio Scotland shows again. I was actually speaking to one of their DJs recently (Vic Galloway) and nagging him once again to play them. I don't think he will (he described them as too commercial for his show) but he said he may come to the Edinburgh gig. As he lives there, he might, and I'll be reminding him of the show date nearer the time.

Well, I did remind Vic again, via Twitter,  and will send one final reminder a few days before the show.

I'm also celebrating the fact that a Radio Scotland DJ, Bruce MacGregor, started off his 'Travelling Folk' show on Sunday night with 'Demon Kitty Rag' :) I'd like to think that it's due to the fact that I've sent him a few e-mails about KJ in the past but that's probably not the case. No matter, he played them and mentioned the Edinburgh gig.

I've sent him a thank-you e-mail and encouraged him & his fellow DJs to play more KJ songs. Fingers crossed.
